Our Specialty - Shoulders

Shoulders are the most flexible joints in your body, allowing you to raise and rotate your arms in multiple directions. Unfortunately, as any orthopedic surgeon can attest, that same flexibility is what makes your shoulder more susceptible to injury than other joints. Our Houston, Texas, shoulder specialist, Dr. Sabonghy, has extensive experience performing minimally invasive joint replacement procedures, arthroscopic rotator cuff surgery and other therapeutic treatments and procedures designed to restore your shoulder health and stability so that you can return to an active life free from pain.

Common treatable shoulder conditions include:

  • Bursitis, which is linked to the repetitive motions frequently associated with swimming or weight lifting
  • Rotator cuff tears, which can be associated with chronic inflammation and repetitive motion injuries
  • Dislocations, which can occur repeatedly and may require instability surgery to correct
  • Fractures – The collarbone, humerus or proximal humerus fracture are frequently repaired nonsurgically, as is acromioclavicular separation. However, surgical repair may be needed for severe fractures or joint separation.
  • Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, which are degenerative conditions that can inflame and damage the shoulder joint and tissues

Some shoulder injuries can stabilize with nonsurgical treatments when they are diagnosed and treated promptly. If you are experiencing chronic pain and a limited range of motion, shoulder replacement surgery may be necessary.

Foot & Ankle
tFeet are one of the most complex parts of the human body. Foot conditions and injuries can lead to discomfort, minor or debilitating pain and even disability. Our orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Sabonghy, provides the highest level of care in the diagnosing and treatment of foot and ankle disorders and injuries. Our office offers a variety of therapeutic and surgical treatments for ankle and foot problems associated with sports-related injuries, structural deformities or diseases.

Some of the most common sport injuries and problems we see include:

  • Achilles tendonitis, an inflammation of the Achilles tendon often due to overuse or failure to warm up before exercising
  • Heel spurs, which cause chronic sharp pains or an aching sensation on the bottom of one or both heels
  • Plantar fasciitis, which is associated with activities that involve running and jumping and can lead to inflammation of the tissues supporting the arch of the foot
  • Shin splints, one of the most common sports injuries for athletes and weekend warriors alike
  • Sprains and strains

Dr. Sabonghy, of Houston, Texas, has trained with some of the country’s top orthopedic surgeons, and he is experienced in performing minimally invasive joint replacement procedures and advanced fracture care. Contact us today to schedule a consultation with our sports medicine doctor.

KNEE

The knee, a joint that supports virtually the entire weight of the body, is extremely prone to injury and damage. If an injury, such as a meniscus or ligament tear, goes undiagnosed or untreated, it can lead to long-term joint damage. As a Houston area orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Sabonghy has extensive experience in the field of orthopedic medicine and specifically in sports medicine.

Our Houston knee surgery clinic can help with a wide range of knee problems, including:

  • Arthroscopic surgery to reconstruct or repair ACL ligament injuries, which are among the most common knee injuries
  • Surgical knee cartilage repair to correct meniscus tears, which can occur due to over flexing or twisting
  • Ligament reconstruction surgery to repair cruciate or collateral ligaments
  • Advanced fracture repair
  • Both weekend warriors and elite athletes may be at risk for knee injuries. Our specialized services can include advanced diagnostics, comprehensive injury evaluations, prescribed exercise programs and the latest surgical procedures and treatments designed to restore function to your knee.

If you are experiencing severe swelling, pain, are unable to straighten your knee or cannot bear weight on your knee, contact our office today to schedule a consultation. Dr. Sabonghy, our Houston knee surgeon, is dedicated to helping to restore you to a full and active lifestyle.

Knee Cartilage Repair/Ligament Reconstruction

There are two types of knee cartilage, the meniscus and the articular, or smooth, cartilage. As any Houston knee specialist will tell you, both types of cartilage can easily be injured. These areas are constantly bearing stress that increases exponentially with every step.

Not all cartilage can be replaced or even repaired. There are specialized procedures to repair both types of cartilage injuries. A meniscus tear can be repaired through an all-arthroscopic technique administered by a Houston knee surgeon. Other specialized procedures including microfracture, ligament reconstruction, cartilage cell implantation, and synthetic cartilage plugs can be used to augment and/or provide a medium for new articular cartilage growth.

Many Houston knee surgery and advanced fracture repair options are now available to delay or possibly eliminate the need for a total knee replacement. The sports medicine physicians at OneSabo are highly skilled and versed in advanced knee cartilage repair and replacement techniques. Contact us to discuss the best procedure for any knee ailment you may have.
